Editors Note:  This page is the work of Chapter member Bob Jaffin who is planing to add diversity to Chapter events.

THE ONLY CONSTANT IS CHANGE

Folks, lots of changes coming with regards to chapter activities and payment methods. Two important points to keep in mind: (1) if the chapter does a trifold mailing for any sort of event it costs us roughly $600, (2) meal costs continue to skyrocket and many other organizations have adapted by going to catered buffets, the only real issue with this is that small number of chapter members would have to volunteer to get involved with set up and oversight of the buffet line.

We are hoping to coordinate/sponsor many more events in the next couple of years realizing that many may be regional in nature or simply too far for the entire membership to travel so we will be depending much more heavily on this space within our webpage, a few hardy individuals to help coordinate individual events in their areas, and your willingness to provide emails and/or cell phones so we can message/text/email you to get the word out. Below is the current list of planned activities in some cases we need to make reservations for space months in advance and in many cases, we will need to collect monies earlier than ever before. Our entire approach is evolving but we really depend on members who want to participate in events giving us a way to contact them other than US mail which has become extremely expensive.

Here is an updated calendar of events, some are short fused others are real long term . Once posted, they will stay active until shortly after the event date. MOAA NH events that have not been finalized may not show up

1. Not a MOAA NH Sponsored event Military) Blues Friday  February 21st. 12:30 pm on Friday, February 21st at the Old Salt Restaurant in Hampton, NH. $34 to $36 Please let us know by noon on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 Tom and Heather Kyle email:  tkyleh@yahoo.com tele: (603) 679-8687.

2. A March Sunday to be determined possible Sunday brunch since the weather forced cancellation last week and would have forced a cancellation this week . WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU ARE INTERESTED TWO POSSIBLE LOCATIONS: THE FOUNDRY IN MANCHESTER OR JIMMY’S JAZZ CLUB IN PORTSMOUTH. THIS CAN BE MOVED TO MAY BUT ONLY IF WE GET FEEDBACK

3. Not a MOAA NH sponsored event Saturday, March 29, NGAUS annual meeting at the Puritan conference center in Manchester.

4. MOAA Southern Maine Chapter The next quarterly meeting will be March 29th and Mark Winter will be the speaker.  That meeting will be at the Maine Military Museum in South Portland.  Cost will be $25 per person and lunch will consist of platters from Shaw’s.

5. Saturday, April 26, MOAA NH annual Granite State Warriors Award luncheon at the Common Man in Plymouth the flyer will be mailed out on our normal schedule.

6. Saturday May 10, MOAA NH Train Ride Dinner train with a block of rooms reserved at the nearby Hampton Inn Lincoln Change in cutoff date: we can extend our cutoff date until April 11, after that date will probably still be able to sign up but we will need to give them a fairly accurate headcount so that they can sell tickets to fill in the car. Under our current arrangement we need at least 30 people to ensure our rate and technically have one car that seat 48 reserved exclusively for MOAA. After April 11 they will be allowed to sell off any seats we have not filled– we do need to hit 30 person count to ensure our rate. Right now e are far short of the 30 person minimum

7.  MOAA Southern Maine. Golf Tournament on July 23rd at Dunegrass Country Club. We would love to have 20 teams of four players and 36 sponsors for this outing.  Last year we raised approximately $6,000 and we would like to get more this year.  The cost to us for each player has gone up by $5 but we are keeping the cost to the player the same as last year.

8. Saturday August 2 Clambake

9. Not a MOAA sponsored event Friday, October 3, Navy league sponsoring the Navy's 250th birthday dinner at Envio in Portsmouth New Hampshire.

Spouses, please consider adding your emails to our database as many of the more local/smaller events will only be announced on the webpage and through email.
