Spring Meeting - Indian Head Resort
By Michael McLean
Utensils The wonderful weather that has blessed our meetings for the past years came to an end with the Spring Meeting on May 18, 2002. Notwithstanding that everyone says we need water, we did not need a blizzard in May! Who would have thought! 118 members and guests, out of the 154 who had signed up, braved the snow and 40 degree temperatures to travel up to the north country to the Indian Head Resort. Those that made the trek were treated to an outstanding luncheon and program. From the tempting hors d'oeuvres to the main course and finishing with mouth-watering treats on the dessert buffet, everyone raved about the meal. The staff bent over backward to make our visit a memorable one. We all enjoyed the talk by our guest speaker David Nielsen, Caretaker of the Old Man of the Mountain, who entertained us with stories about the work of preserving this important state landmark. We were joined by eight first time members: Bill and Sue Blackwell of Franconia, Bob and Joyce Freund of Salem, Ron and Bev Taksar of Franconia and Bill and Jackie Taxter of Lisbon.
