Fall Meeting - Indian Head Resort
What a wonderful fall day in New Hampshire! Although the leaves had not reached their height of color, the drive there was very pleasant. The Fall Meeting was held on September 25, 2004, at the Indian Head Resort in a beautiful setting beneath the Indian Head Profile mountain, just south of Franconia Notch in northern part of the state. 130 members and guests were treated to an outstanding luncheon and program. From the tempting hors d'oeuvres to the main course and finishing with mouth-watering treats on the dessert buffet, everyone raved about the meal. The staff bent over backward to make our visit a memorable one. We all enjoyed the talk by our guest speaker Rick Wilcox (son of chapter members Richard and Jean Wilcox of Eaton Center), president of the Mountain Rescue Service, who entertained us with stories about mountain rescue operations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Some of his stories were very amusing while others showed the tragedies of not being prepared for the potential dangers of hiking in the mountains. We were joined by six first time members: Samir and Kathy Habiby of Swanzey, Dyer and Sherri Lennox of Canaan and Ken and Lynne Smith of Eliot, ME.
Annual Meeting - Manchester Country Club
The Chapter celebrated its 25th Anniversary in grand style with a party, featuring decorations, Anniversary Cake and champagne, at the Annual Meeting and Luncheon of the New Hampshire Chapter held at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford on November 13, 2004. 218 members and guest joined in the festivities that included rousing renditions of all the service marches! Once again, the staff of the Country Club put on an excellent meal with a choice of Honey Mustard Chicken and Cannelloni Florentine. While the members' business meeting was going on, the spouses and friends' were presented a very informative program on Care Giving at Home by two representatives of Your VNA from Rochester, NH. We were honored to have US Senator John E. Sununu as our guest speaker. He provided us with an update on the war on terrorism and what lies ahead for the US Senate. He also presided over the installation of the newly elected officers and Board of Directors of the Chapter. The results of the annual elections can be found on the "Odds and Ends" page. We were joined by four first time members: Jim and Margaret Alosi of Atkinson, Richard Cogswell of Elkins and Jean Dolan of Wolfeboro. May the next twenty five years be as successful as the first!!
