Retiree Activity Day
Submitted by Gene Paquette
Retiree Activity Day (RAD ’02) is set for August 24, 2002, from 0800 to 1400 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS).  This event will be sponsored by PNS in cooperation with the Army National Guards and Army Retiree Councils of New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, and the Retiree Activities Office (RAO) at Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine, Fort Drum in New York, and Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.  The RAO at PNS is the focal point for planning and coordination.  Major General Homer A. Johnson, Jr., USAR (Ret) is the project manager.  RAD '02 promises to be an excellent opportunity for members of the Northeast military community to get the latest information on benefits and services as well as to meet and socialize with other active duty, reserve and retired service people.  If you need help resolving problems with “the system” this is the event you should attend.  A “pay at the door” cookout is being set up by the Shipyard and submarine crew personnel; the Commissary and Exchange (NEX) are planning many specials; and the Museum will be open for our visitors.  Due to increased security, all who plan to attend should bring their current military/dependent ID cards so that you can be quickly processed aboard.  It also will help if your vehicle has a properly displayed current DOD decal.  Look for more information in the next newsletter.  Questions should be directed to General Johnson at (603) 964-5943 or via e-mail at: homernh@msn.com.
Chapter Dues
By Herb Follansbee
In January 2002, the Chapter mailed out notices to members who pay dues annually.  If you did not receive a notice, there are four possibilities: (1) you are a life member; (2) you prepaid your dues last year; (3) you joined the Chapter late in 2001 and your dues were credited for 2002; or (4) we made a mistake.  If you think we made a mistake, please contact Herb Follansbee at P.O. Box 712, Dover, NH 03821-0712.

If you received a dues notice and have responded, thank you!  If you received a dues notice and plan to renew your membership, please do so at your earliest convenience.  If you lost your dues notice or if you are unsure of your status, please contact Herb.  If you have decided to not renew your membership, please send Herb a short note so that he can take you off the distribution list for follow-up notices.  Thank you.
